Real opportunities. Real impact. Your career, redefined.
(NOTE: A human reviews every application at Oceans, so please apply for only one position and only once a year—if you're a better fit for another role, we’ll route your application accordingly and if we’re not quite ready for you, we’ll reach back out later.)
At Oceans, we help the best and brightest of Sri Lanka to take advantage of opportunities that otherwise wouldn’t be available to them, while supporting entrepreneurs around the world. Our community (we call them Divers) don’t do surface work—they go deep to solve complex challenges and make a real impact. And in doing so, they support bold ideas and expand their skills, broaden their expertise, and grow their careers, all without having to leave family and friends.
As an FP&A Analyst, you'll work directly with entrepreneurs to deliver deep insights that shape strategic decision-making. You won’t just crunch numbers, you’ll tell the story behind them, uncover drivers of performance, and build forecasts that help leadership see what’s coming next.
This role requires a sharp analytical mind, expert-level modeling skills, and the ability to distill complex financial data into clear, actionable insight.
Accountability
Your success as an FP&A Analyst will be measured by your ability to support and influence decision-making through accurate forecasting, robust analysis, and a deep understanding of the business.
Here’s how you’ll make an impact:
Financial Modeling & Forecasting
- Build and maintain detailed financial models to support business planning and strategy.
- Develop robust, defensible forecasts that help executives navigate future outcomes.
- Continuously seek better ways to model and measure business performance.
Variance Analysis & Strategic Insight
- Conduct variance analysis and go beyond accounting data to identify root causes.
- Verify and validate data accuracy, flag inconsistencies, and propose corrections.
- Analyze company-wide data to surface key trends and opportunities.
Performance Monitoring & Ad-Hoc Analysis
- Build templates to track KPIs and performance metrics across the business.
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to support cross-functional needs.
- Support senior leadership with updates on market dynamics and competition.
Stakeholder Support & Investor Diligence
- Field financial data queries from cross-functional teams.
- Play a key role in investor communications and due diligence processes.
Colleagues
Your primary stakeholder will be your client along with the teams they work with. You’ll also collaborate closely with functional groups across operations, product, strategy and potentially more depending on the client you are matched with.
At Oceans, you’ll also receive guidance and support from your Operations Manager, who will help you succeed in the role and ensure that you’re continuously growing and developing in your career.
Skills and Qualifications
At Oceans, we believe in T-shaped individuals—those who bring deep expertise in one area, paired with broad curiosity and interests. As an FP&A Analyst, your vertical focus will be financial analysis and modeling, while your horizontal focus will span strategic thinking, business insight, and operational support.
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Language Skills: Professional fluency in English, with excellent communication skills (reading, writing, speaking).
- Experience: At least 4 years in Financial Planning & Analysis or a similar role. Prior experience in investment banking or consulting is a strong plus.
- Education: A degree in Finance, Economics, Business Management, or a related field; equivalent work experience also considered.
- Technical Skills: High proficiency in financial modeling using MS Excel and Google Sheets, together with a familiarity with business intelligence and data visualization tools is a plus.
- Mindset & Approach: Methodical and detail-oriented, with strong analytical thinking and have the ability to work independently and proactively problem-solve. Comfortable working in fast-paced, data-heavy environments.
Diversity of experience is core to Oceans. You are expected to work inclusively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, ensuring that both personal and collective dignity are supported.
During the interview process, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your skills in the following areas:
- Financial Modeling & Forecasting: How have you built models that supported business decisions?
- Variance Analysis & Insight: How have you explained financial trends or performance gaps to stakeholders?
- Business Acumen: How do you approach understanding a company’s core value drivers?
- Stakeholder Communication: How do you respond to requests for financial data and analysis?
- Ad-hoc Analysis: How do you prioritize and execute when working with limited information and tight timelines?
Role Specifications
This is a remote role, where you will be expected to work a split shift with some overlap with our client’s time zone. You will, however, be expected to be present for in-person training programs during your first 3.5 weeks with us. During the offer process, we’ll share more information about our benefits and compensation philosophy, considering both market trends and individual factors.
