Job Description | Reports to: VP, Enterprise & Partnership Marketing Position Summary The Portfolio Marketing Manager will own the vertical growth strategy and go-to-market system for Penn Foster’s veterinary portfolio, serving as the strategic marketing partner to the business. This role translates business priorities, market opportunities, customer insights, and commercial needs into coordinated strategies and go-to-market plans that drive growth. The ideal candidate will develop a deep understanding of the veterinary education and animal health landscape, priority markets and customer segments, learner, practice, and employer needs, competitive dynamics, accreditation and outcomes considerations, and commercial priorities. This person will work closely with Sales, Product, Insights and Marketing leadership to identify opportunities in priority markets and customer segments, determine where to focus and how to win, translate field insight into actionable marketing strategies, and create test-and-learn approaches that generate near-term impact and scale successful plays. What You’ll Do Area Role scope Veterinary strategy & market growth Identify emerging veterinary opportunities; develop market assessments; size and prioritize markets, customer segments, and growth opportunities; and make clear recommendations about where the business should invest and why, including how outcomes and market dynamics affect the opportunity.
Veterinary business partnership Serve as a strategic partner to cross-functional leadership and Sales; build deep knowledge of commercial priorities, sales motions, learner and customer dynamics, decision-makers, veterinary practice and industry needs; bring a clear point of view to planning conversations.
Seller partnership & field activation Work shoulder-to-shoulder with sellers to understand priority accounts, customer needs, and market barriers; translate field insight into practical GTM plays; support priority-account and priority-market activation; and create feedback loops between the field and Marketing.
Go-to-market & test / learn / scale Develop market, segment, and audience specific growth plays spanning messaging, campaigns, field engagement, conferences, content, and other channels. Design tests to validate hypotheses, measure outcomes, and scale what works.
Customer & market intelligence Analyze customer, commercial, campaign, workforce, industry, and competitor data. Synthesize quantitative and qualitative insight, distinguish anecdotes from patterns, and build business cases to inform action.
Cross-functional leadership Partner across Marketing, Product, Sales, RevOps, Finance, Legal, Engineering, and other teams to develop coordinated strategies and bring market insights upstream to inform opportunities to strengthen learner outcomes, industry relevance, and growth.
Operating model & capability building Build repeatable planning, prioritization, measurement, and learning rhythms to make our Marketing more effective and scalable.

- Priority markets, customer segments, and growth opportunities have focused plays tied to business objectives.

Who You Are You are a strategic, commercially minded marketer who can move between market-level strategy and field-level action. You are comfortable getting close to sellers and customers while maintaining a broader point of view on where the Veterinary & Animal Health business should grow.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and business judgment.
- Ability to translate complex market and customer signals into clear recommendations and choices.
- Proven experience partnering with Sales, commercial, product, and business leaders.
- Comfort challenging assumptions while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to work independently, establish structure, and build new capabilities in ambiguity.
- Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and executive communication skills.
- Curiosity about veterinary education and animal health, with the ability to learn learner, practice, employer, credentialing, and industry dynamics quickly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Business, Marketing, Education, Healthcare, Veterinary Studies, Animal Health, or a related field preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in vertical marketing, strategic marketing, product marketing, commercial strategy, market intelligence, growth strategy, business development, or a related function. Experience in education, healthcare, veterinary, animal health, or adjacent industries is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to translate data and customer insight into actionable business recommendations.
- Experience developing go-to-market strategies and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience working with Sales or another commercial organization is strongly preferred. Experience in a regulated, credentialed, or outcomes-driven market is a plus.
Working Conditions & Hiring Process
- U.S. Work Location Requirement: All employees must reside in and perform work within the United States. We do not support international remote work arrangements for this role.
- Travel Expectations: While this is a remote position, occasional travel may be required for team meetings, company events, conferences, summits, and similar activities. Candidates must be willing and able to travel as needed.
- On-Camera Work Environment: We operate in a highly collaborative, remote, on-camera culture. Employees are expected to be on camera during meetings unless extenuating circumstances apply.
