ROLE OVERVIEW

The Director, Clinical Supervision & Practice Developmentis responsible foradvancing enterprise clinical supervision models, clinician competency frameworks, and practice development strategies that support consistent, high-quality clinical care across LifeStance. This role develops scalable supervision standards, supervisor training pathways, and outcomes-informed development practices by partnering with Clinical Practice, Measurement-Based Care, Clinical Operations, Learning & Development, Research, and clinical leadership. Success looks like enterprise-wide adoption of effective supervision practices, strengthened clinician capability, improved fidelity toevidence-based care, and measurable improvement in clinical quality, consistency, and patient outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

Clinical Supervision & Competency Leadership

  • Develop and operationalize enterprise clinical supervision standards, models, and expectations to support consistent and effective supervision across the organization.
  • Establish clinician competency expectations and performance development pathways that support clinician growth, evidence-based practice, and high-quality patient care.
  • Integrate measurement-based care, outcomes data, and quality insights into supervision practices toidentifyperformance gaps, guide clinician development, and support continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Clinical Practice, Measurement-Based Care, Clinical Operations, and clinical leadership to translate clinical standards andoutcomesinsights into meaningful improvements in clinician performance.
  • Advance supervision approaches for specialty populations, programs, and emerging therapies to ensure effective application of required clinical skills and competencies in practice.

Education, Training & Professional Development

  • Partner with Learning & Development to design scalable supervisor training, coaching, assessment, and certification pathways aligned to enterprise supervision and competency expectations.
  • Support the development of training, education, implementation, and certification resources related to evidence-based practice, specialty care, outcomes-informed treatment, and therapeutic competency development.
  • Foster professional growth through advanced learning opportunities, consultation, and mentorship for clinical leaders and supervisors.
  • Support leadership development initiatives that strengthen clinical supervision, clinical excellence, and organizational performance.

Practice Development, Research & Thought Leadership

  • Collaborate with Research teams to supportoutcomesstudies, publications, presentations, and other scholarly activities that advance understanding of treatment effectiveness and supervision impact.
  • Partner with Information Technology, Clinical Operations, and external partners to evaluate emerging therapeutic models and innovative tools that enhance clinical capability, therapeutic fidelity, and clinical insight.
  • Serve as a thought leader through participation in professional conferences, speaking engagements, industry collaborations, and external partnerships.
  • Contribute to enterprise practice development strategies that supportLifeStance’sclinical excellence, measurement-based care, clinician development, and value-based care readiness goals.

REQUIREMENTS

Scope / Decision-Making / Impact

This role influences enterprise clinical supervision standards, clinician competency expectations, supervisor development pathways, and outcomes-informed practice improvement strategies across a large, multi-state outpatient behavioral health organization. The role is expected to make recommendationsregardingsupervision models, competency frameworks, training priorities, clinical development resources, and performance improvement approaches. Decisions involving enterprise risk, material operational change, budget commitments, or policy-level implications are escalated to senior leadership asappropriate.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role may directly supervise team members, contractors, or matrixed contributors as the clinical supervision and practice development function evolves. If the role does not initially have direct reports, it is still expected to provide leadership, coaching, and direction to cross-functional partners and contributors supporting supervision, training, and practice development initiatives.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Advanced clinical degree, such as Clinical Psychology PhD, PsyD, or equivalent clinical training and experience.
  • Active professional license in good standing, as applicable to the candidate’s discipline and the work performed.
  • 7–10+ years of experience in clinical supervision, clinical training, therapist development, clinical leadership, psychotherapy practice standards, or related behavioral health leadership roles.
  • Demonstratedexpertisein evidence-based psychotherapy modalities, such as CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, exposure-based treatments, or other evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
  • Experience developing, implementing, or scaling clinical supervision models, competency frameworks, professional development programs, or supervisor training pathways.
  • Strong ability to translate clinical evidence, outcomes data, measurement-based care insights, and best practices into scalable supervision standards, training resources, and clinician development strategies.
  • Experience working with clinical operations or cross-functional teams to support implementation of care models, clinical standards, or practice improvement initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with clinical, operational, executive, and external audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across matrixed teams and influence stakeholders without direct authority.

Essential Competencies

  • Expertisein competency-based education, clinical supervision models, clinician development, and performance improvement.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based psychotherapy, fidelity to therapeutic models,supervisionbest practices, and outcomes-informed care.

COMPENSATION: $170,000 - $190,000/annually with bonus and equity potential
