The opportunity
The Manager, LMS Integrations and Extensibility leads a cross-functional technical team responsible for the integration ecosystem and extensibility standards surrounding the learning management system (LMS), with a primary focus on D2L Brightspace and its connected services. This role formalizes ownership for SIS/LMS interoperability (including Banner–Brightspace integration components), LTI-based and API-driven integrations, SSO and identity flows, and custom integration tooling that enables scaled delivery across the learning environment. The role is also responsible for leading process ownership and continuous enhancement of the course rollout and grade pass-back processes.
Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining integration standards in the learning ecosystem (including 1EdTech standards such as LTI and related interoperability practices), managing an integrations and customization roadmap, ensuring high-quality delivery through effective product ownership and thorough testing/UAT, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, reliable support services, and reducing single points of failure by building depth of expertise across the team. The Manager of LMS Extensibility strengthens collaboration with internal partners (e.g., platform teams, EIT/development, Banner-Brightspace integration stakeholders, LMS Operations, and academic and operational units) as well as external partners (e.g., D2L, 1EdTech) to ensure integrations are reliable, secure, scalable, and aligned to institutional priorities and term-based delivery timelines. You will report to the Director of Academic Technology.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead a formal, cross-functional LMS Extensibility function focused on integrations, interoperability standards, and platform extensibility.
  • Own the integrations and customization portfolio and roadmap for the LMS ecosystem, including intake processes, prioritization frameworks, dependency mapping, and delivery planning aligned to academic calendars and release cycles.
  • Define, maintain, and socialize LMS integration standards (e.g., LTI, API integration practices, identity/SSO patterns, data handling expectations, and operational readiness requirements).
  • Build and maintain team expertise and institutional readiness around 1EdTech interoperability standards and related best practices.
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for LMS integration governance, ensuring consistent approaches across vendors, internal development teams, and operational stakeholders.
  • Formalize ownership of Banner–Brightspace integration components, including product ownership and process ownership responsibilities, configuration alignment, issue triage coordination, and lifecycle planning in close partnership with SIS, data, and development teams.
  • Strengthen SIS/LMS collaboration by building deeper Banner expertise within the team and establishing reliable partnership rhythms with SIS stakeholders and integration/platform teams.
  • Lead and coordinate testing, UAT, and release readiness for SIS/LMS changes and enhancements; ensure results are documented and communicated to impacted parties.
  • Partner with academic and business stakeholders to improve end-to-end data flows and reduce defects affecting enrollment, course provisioning, roles, and grade-related processes.
  • Build relationships with academic and business stakeholders to continually align university strategic goals and projects with standards-based integration solutions.
  • Manage the technical and operational lifecycle for LTI integrations, including tool evaluation support, standards conformance, configuration oversight, privacy/security alignment (in collaboration with information security team), and vendor escalation as needed.
  • Oversee API-based and custom integrations that extend the LMS, ensuring appropriate documentation, monitoring, alerting, and support handoffs.
  • Provide leadership for SSO integration patterns in collaboration with identity and security teams, ensuring reliable authentication/authorization flows and appropriate access controls.
  • Ensure the delivery of high‑quality, reliable support services for staff, faculty, and students across the LMS and its integrated systems, including the effective handling of service requests, incidents, and recurring issues.
  • Own and continuously improve the mission-critical Course Roll and Grade Pass Back processes (and adjacent provisioning/term-start integration workflows), ensuring they are reliable, documented, testable, and well-understood across partner teams.
  • Maintain embedded flexibility, via close alignment with ATS leadership team, to support LMS Optimization and LMS Operations as needed—especially during high-volume academic periods—while preserving dedicated focus on integrations and standards.
  • Partner with LMS Operations on incident and problem management, ensuring integration-related issues are triaged effectively, root causes are addressed, and recurring issues are reduced through improvements and governance.
  • Provide direct people leadership: coaching, performance management, goal setting, career development, and workload planning to ensure sustainable delivery and strong team engagement.
  • Reduce single points of failure by implementing cross-training, peer review practices, shared documentation, and resilient support coverage models.
  • Lead by example with a customer-centric, collaborative approach; remove obstacles, resolve conflicts, and ensure accountability to commitments and outcomes.
  • Apply SNHU HR guidelines, processes, and best practices in all personnel-related responsibilities.
  • Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential functions of this role
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Job responsibilities can change at any time, with or without notice.

  • Experience providing leadership and/or support for enterprise LMS ecosystems (preferably D2L Brightspace) and integration-heavy environments.
  • Understanding of integration concepts and patterns, including LTI and/or other edtech standards, APIs, SSO, data exchange, and integration lifecycle management.
  • Experience with SIS/LMS integration concepts (e.g., provisioning, enrollments, roles, course shells, grade passback/grade workflows) and working knowledge of SIS-driven processes (Banner preferred).
  • Experience collaborating with technical teams, operational stakeholders, and third-party vendors to implement, maintain, or improve technology solutions.
