This position will operate on a remote, freelance basis. Applicants must be located in the US or Canada.

As a worldwide leader in the tech space, MakeUseOf operates at a rapid pace and we are currently looking for a News Reporter to join our team—specifically someone who can quickly get to the core of a story and deliver clear, engaging news content in a timely manner.
Your Responsibilities
- Scour the internet to identify, research, and write up-to-the-minute news stories regarding software updates, device launches, and emerging technology trends.
- Extract the core of a story quickly to deliver informative and timely reports in a fast-paced environment.
- Think analytically about news sources, providing insightful commentary that applauds or criticizes developments within the industry.
- Contribute reliably and consistently under tight deadlines.
- Input work into our in-house CMS according to our specific formatting and editorial guidelines.
- Coordinate closely with the editorial team for assignments and feedback.

Experience and Skills
- Relevant experience in writing and editing technology news in the English language.
- Expert knowledge and broad familiarity with tech products, apps, and consumer electronics.
- Ability to think analytically and extract the "beating heart" of a story in a flash.
- Proficiency with SEO practices and experience using a custom CMS.
- Must be able to work reliably within a US Time Zone to ensure timely news coverage.
- A self-starter attitude with a passion for helping people get the most out of their technology.
