About TengoInternet
TengoInternet is an employee-owned company that has spent more than two decades designing, building, and managing outdoor WiFi networks for campgrounds, RV resorts, glamping destinations, and marinas. Our customers count on us to keep their guests connected and their operations running — and they stay with us because of trust, relationships, and results. Get Connected.
Why this role exists
Our longtime marketing leader recently moved on, and rather than replace the role one-for-one, we redesigned the function. Strategy is set by our leadership team; automation and specialists handle the heavy systems work. What we need now is a reliable, hands-on marketing generalist to own the marketing execution across our prospect and customer lifecycle — nurturing leads, strengthening customer relationships, supporting expansion and referrals, and ensuring our industry presence translates into measurable business outcomes. This person will also keep our brand present and our busy trade show calendar running smoothly.
One thing to know: Tengo wins through relationships and credibility, not marketing volume. Most of our best customers come from referrals and industry events. Your job is to amplify that — keep us top-of-mind with customers and prospects, make every event count, and make sure no lead falls through the cracks.
What you’ll own
1. Prospect & Customer Nurturing
- Own the ongoing marketing cadence for active prospects, dormant opportunities, customers, and strategic accounts.
- Ensure trade-show leads, closed/lost opportunities, early-stage construction projects, and other “not now” prospects enter appropriate nurture programs rather than disappearing from view.
- Partner with Sales and Customer Success to identify and execute customer expansion campaigns around portfolio growth, network lifecycle/upgrade opportunities, new services, and other relevant Tengo capabilities.
- Build recurring customer communications that support retention, expansion, referrals, upgrades, and adoption of additional Tengo services.
- Identify customer wins that can become testimonials, referrals, case studies, reviews, or other trust-building assets.
- Work with our HubSpot specialist to translate lifecycle needs into automated workflows and sequences.
2. Content & Thought Leadership: emails and blogs
•Write and schedule recurring email campaigns in HubSpot: educational content for existing customers, nurture touches for prospects and dormant leads, and pre/post-event sends.
•Write and schedule our promotional emails and blog posts for posting through our ad partners
•Turn CEO-provided ideas, observations, meeting notes and industry insights into first drafts of CEO Connect and other thought-leadership communications, preserving the CEO's voice and point of view for his final review.
•Publish 1–2 blog posts per month aligned to our SEO/AEO roadmap (we have an audit and keyword direction — you execute against it).
•Turn wins into proof: case studies, testimonials, and review snippets we can reuse across channels.
· Work efficiently across channels by repurposing strong source content and using AI appropriately for drafting and production.
3. Light social media and website maintenance
•Keep Facebook and LinkedIn active (roughly 1–2 posts/week) by repurposing blog, email, and event content — consistency over volume.
•Promote our presence before, during, and after trade shows; celebrate customer milestones and company news.
•Responding to social comments and reviews on Google, etc
•Periodic content updates to our Wordpress website—You do not need to be a professional web designer.
4. Lead attribution and funnel management
•Own lead-source data quality in HubSpot: every new lead tagged with channel and source (referral, event, web/AI search, advertising, cold outreach) so we know what’s working.
•Produce a simple monthly lead-source and funnel report for the sales and leadership team.
•Own event lead capture end-to-end: badge scans and booth conversations get into HubSpot and enrolled in follow-up sequences within days, not weeks.
· Own the marketing process for systematically generating customer and partner referrals, including identifying appropriate moments to ask, developing campaigns and communications, coordinating referral incentives where appropriate, and tracking referral results.
5. Conference planning and logistics
•Quarterback our trade show calendar (OHI, KOA, Campground Owners Expo, and the Glamping Show are our keystones): registrations, sponsorship and ad deadlines, booth services, and company profiles.
•Coordinate booth and swag shipping, hotel blocks, and travel deadlines with our internal event support — you run the checklist and the calendar so nothing books late or ships late.
•Run a simple pre-event protocol: staffing confirmed before we commit, meetings booked before we arrive, follow-up ready before we leave.
- Proactively identify speaking, panel, roundtable, sponsorship and thought-leadership opportunities that position Tengo above the noise of the exhibit hall.
- Work with leadership and Sales before key events to identify target accounts, relationship introductions and meetings we want to create.
•Deliver a short post-event recap: leads captured, meetings held, cost, and what we’d change.
What success looks like in the first 90 days
•Fall/winter event season (Glamping Show, OHI, KOA, and others) runs on a documented checklist with zero missed deadlines.
•A monthly customer email and a steady social cadence are live and on-brand.
•Every new lead in HubSpot carries a source, and leadership sees a monthly report they trust.
•Event leads are followed up within one week via a repeatable sequence.
What this role is not
•Not a CMO or strategy role — leadership sets direction; you’ll have a seat at our standing marketing meeting and real input, but this is an execution-first engagement.
•Not a HubSpot architecture project — specialist help handles complex automation builds; you need to be fluent, not an architect.
•Not a heavy paid-media role — we run modest industry advertising, not large ad budgets.
•Not a social media content creator role -- we don’t need tons of video production, etc
You’re a fit if you have
•4+ years of B2B marketing experience as a hands-on generalist — ideally supporting a relationship-driven sales team.
•Strong writing chops: you can shift between a practical educational email, a CEO’s voice, and a blog post that reads like a human wrote it.
•Working fluency in HubSpot (email, lists, forms, basic workflows, reporting).
•Real event/trade show operations experience — you’ve owned deadlines, vendors, shipping, and travel logistics before.
•The fractional mindset: self-managing, deadline-driven, comfortable flexing hours up during event season and down in quieter months.
•Comfort using AI tools to draft faster without letting them write on autopilot.
Bonus points: outdoor hospitality / campground / RV industry familiarity; WordPress; Canva or Adobe; Google Ads; SEO/AEO experience.
Engagement details
•Independent contractor (1099) on a monthly retainer of $3,000–$5,000 depending on experience and scope, at roughly 10–15 hours/week.
•Initial 90-day engagement with the intent of a long-term ongoing relationship.
•You’ll work day-to-day with our fractional sales leader and internal event support, with a standing marketing meeting alongside our CEO and sales leader.
