About Priority:
Priority Commerce is a leading financial technology company on a mission to deliver a personalized, easy-to-adopt financial toolset that accelerates cash flow and optimizes working capital for businesses. Our vision is to eliminate the barriers to unlocking revenue - empowering businesses to grow faster and operate smarter.
We achieve this through the Priority Commerce Engine, an innovative platform that combines payables, acquiring, and banking and treasury solutions. This unified approach allows businesses to streamline financial operations, reduce unnecessary costs, and uncover new revenue opportunities.
At Priority Commerce, we're driven by results. We expect our people tobe known for results- bringing expertise, momentum, and relentless focus to every challenge, helping our clients and each other thrive.
About the Role:
We are looking for a Product Manager to own Priority’s end-to-end Equipment/Terminal Prodducts— setting the strategy, leading the roadmap, and driving execution for our terminal and device portfolio across Clover, Dejavoo, and Valor, in a business that acquires merchants both as an acquirer-only and as a front-end plus processor (TSYS / Fiserv settlement). This is a hands-on individual contributor role for someone who thinks like a strategist but is required to roll up their sleeves: shaping ambiguous, cross-functional problems into clear scope, writing PRDs and user stories themselves, and building the processes and standards that let the equipment business scale.
You will not have direct reports. Instead, you will act as the connective tissue between engineering, deployment operations, processor and terminal partners, risk, merchant support, and go-to-market (hardware economics, software, pricing, merchant experience, and partner management) across a globally distributed set of teams and time zones.
Domain Areas You'll Own
This role spans a broad set of equipment and acquiring product domains. We're looking for someone with hands-on product experience across most of the following — and the appetite to go deep on the rest:
Terminal portfolio strategy Clover, Dejavoo, and Valor lifecycle across sourcing, certification, deployment, in-field performance, and end-of-life; the right device for the right merchant segment.
Back-Office, Inventory, & Merchant Analytics Inventory & Catalog Management,role-based access permissions, audit logs, and tip pooling/payout calculations,Real-time dashboards tracking sales metrics.
Payment Processing, Security, & Compliance —EMV & Contactless Kernel Integrations,Ensuring clean payload delivery to Priority’s proprietary core payment rails (like MX Merchant) for rapid clearing, settlement, and chargeback protection, upholding strict PCI-DSS scope reduction standards, managing end-to-end encryption (E2EE), point-to-point encryption (P2PE), and tokenization strategies.
Hardware Lifecycle & Device Management (MDM) — Evaluating and certifying next-generation smart terminals (e.g., Pax, Clover, Poynt, or custom Android tablets).
Responsibilities:
1. Roadmap Execution Ownership
- Manage, and execute the product roadmap for the Priority terminal ecosystem including physical devices, iOS, Android, and web components.
- Conduct continuous market research, competitive analysis, and merchant interviews to identify emerging trends, feature gaps, and monetization opportunities in the payments hardware space.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for product health, including active merchant adoption, feature utilization, deployment timelines, and churn reduction.
2. Cross-Functional Execution & Agile Delivery
- Act as the Product Owner within an Agile/Scrum development framework. Write clear, detailed epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Lead backlog grooming, sprint planning, and prioritization sessions, making tough trade-offs between new features, technical debt, and bug fixes.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to develop intuitive user flows, wireframes, and prototypes that minimize merchant friction during checkout and backend reporting.
3. Payments & Hardware Integrations
- Oversee seamless integration with modern payment protocols, EMV card readers, contactless payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay), and backend payment gateways.
- Manage hardware lifecycles by certifying new terminal peripherals (receipt printers, barcode scanners, cash drawers) in collaboration with external manufacturing partners.
- Partner with internal payment operations to ensure device operation and certification.
4. GTM, Commercialization, & Lifecycle Support
- Partner with Product Marketing and Sales Enablement to create compelling documentation, release notes, training modules, and go-to-market materials for ISO partners, direct sales teams, and merchants.
- Act as the tier-3 subject matter expert to support operations, risk, and customer care teams in triaging complex production issues.
What Success Looks Like:
- First 90 days: you own and confidently defend a prioritized, data-backed 2-quarter roadmap. You have successfully balanced merchant feature requests, corporate strategic goals, and technical debt.
- 6 months: you are optimizing the product for growth, expanding market share, and ensuring successful terminal integration and distribution to support Priority's merchant acquisition goals. You begin identifying opportunities for new and deeper equipment opportunities across Priority’s product portfolio.
- 12 months: you aren't just managing Priority’s payments hardware products; you are redefining their impact on the competitive FinTech landscape and directly impacting Priority’s bottom line.
Candidate Requirements:
- Product Experience: 8+ years of technical product management experience, specifically shipping software products in an Agile environment.
- Domain Expertise: Strong background in FinTech, Merchant Acquiring, Credit Card Processing, or the Point of Sale (POS) space.
- Technical Savvy: Firm grasp of API integrations, cloud-based architecture, SaaS models, and how hardware firmware interacts with cloud software applications.
- Methodology: Deep familiarity with Agile tools (Jira, Confluence, Aha!, or Productboard).
- Fluency working with engineering and design on technical trade-offs, plus comfort navigating compliance, risk, and regulatory constraints.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Comfort using data analytics tools (e.g., Mixpanel, Pendo, Tableau) to back up assertions and track user behavior.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate highly technical concepts to sales representatives and business concepts to software engineers.
Nice to Have
- Direct experience launching or managing POS software tailored for retail or food & beverage sectors.
- Familiarity with hardware provisioning and remote device management (MDM) protocols.
- Knowledge of compliance standards in payments (PCI-DSS, EMV Level 3 certification).
