Position: Mechanical Engineer
Type:Contract
Compensation:$60–$90/hour
Location:Remote
Duration:2 to 3 months
Commitment:40 hours/week
Role Responsibilities
- Evaluate the quality of mechanical engineering tasks and model outputs. Identify incorrect assumptions, missing constraints, and unsafe design choices.
- Write clear instruction specs and produce reference solutions for mechanical engineering problems. Define tasks reflecting real-world engineering practices.
- Design challenging tasks and evaluation sets in areas like mechanical design and thermal systems. Collaborate with the research team to build domain-specific tools.
- Work with client researchers to maintain consistent standards. Translate engineering judgment into explicit, teachable criteria.
- Provide precise, well-structured written feedback to improve AI model performance.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 5+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience in industry.
- Genuine ownership of real engineering work, such as designing components or systems.
- Fluency with engineering tools like SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Creo, AutoCAD, ANSYS, Abaqus, or MATLAB.
- Familiarity with standards like ASME, ASTM, ISO, and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- Experience with large language models in professional work.
Compensation & Legal
- W-2 employment with Cincinnatus LLC.
- Hourly contractor, Paid weekly.
