**Job Title:** Legal Operations and Compliance Associate

**Job Level:** IC3

**Location:** Remote, within approved U.S. states (see below)

Awesome is the parent company behind SmugMug, Flickr, and Awesome Events, and this is the first dedicated Legal Operations and Compliance Associate role on the team. You'll work directly with the Legal Team across three distinct brands, managing contracts, supporting IP and compliance efforts, coordinating with outside counsel, and helping build the operational systems that keep a lean legal department running efficiently.

The work is varied: you might be processing a vendor agreement for SmugMug in the morning, coordinating a trademark renewal for Flickr in the afternoon, and routing a sponsorship contract for Awesome Events before the end of day. The team is small enough that your contributions are visible immediately, and you'll have room to grow into the legal ops side of the role by helping select and implement a CLM platform and shaping how legal intake and workflows function across the company.

**Compensation:** Awesome is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role is $92,495-$142,300. This position is fully remote, and, as such, compensation will ultimately be in line with the location where the position is filled. Various factors, such as defined competency leveling and geographic location, will determine the final compensation for this role.

**Benefits:** Health, dental, vision insurance with 100% premium coverage for you and dependents • Health Savings Account contributions covering 90%+ of annual deductible • 401(k) with company match and immediate vesting • Professional development and learning opportunities • Remote work support (internet, fitness, coworking space reimbursements) • Company-sponsored therapy and coaching sessions

#### **Your Opportunity:**

The Legal Operations and Compliance Associate role supports Awesome’s Legal Department across its portfolio of brands, including SmugMug, Flickr, and Awesome Events (MODE). **Contract Management & Legal Operations**

- Manage contract intake, routing, execution, and filing across SmugMug, Flickr, and Awesome Events (MODE Festival)
- Process routine agreements using pre-approved templates; flag deviations and escalate as needed; help streamline processes
- Research and help onboard a contract lifecycle management (CLM) system, including current-state assessment, needs-driven evaluation criteria, data migration, and data mapping
- Track and coordinate legal projects, timelines, and cross-functional follow-ups
- Manage outside counsel billing and legal vendor administration

**Intellectual Property & Compliance Support**

- Help maintain the company's trademark portfolio, including renewal tracking and coordination with outside IP counsel
- Support DMCA/copyright processes in partnership with the Trust & Safety team
- Monitor regulatory developments in privacy, content moderation, consumer protection, and digital services
- Assist with compliance projects, privacy initiatives, policy updates, and event-specific regulatory needs

**Cross-Functional Partnership**

- Serve as a primary Legal point of contact for cross-functional partners on standard matters and general legal questions
- Maintain organized legal files, policies, and governance documentation
- Partner with teams across the business to help operationalize legal and regulatory requirements
- Support the legal team's use of Asana for intake workflows and project tracking

#### **You Have:**

- Paralegal experience and/or paralegal certification with a focus on contracts and legal operations  — you own the work and run with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational instincts — you manage competing priorities, anticipate problems, and keep complex workloads on track
- Clear, confident communicator who flags blockers early and is transparent about status, while also proactively communicating with cross-functional partners outside of Legal when necessary.
- A process improvement mindset — you develop better approaches, not just execute existing ones
- Meticulous analysis of details — you read documents end-to-end and catch inconsistencies before they leave your desk.
- Self-directed, sound judgment on when to act and when to align. You identify what needs doing, bring a recommendation, and execute once aligned.

#### **Beyond the skills:**

- This role reports to: Smrithi Mohan - General Counsel, [Awes.me](http://awes.me)
- The systems we use include: Google Suite, Slack, Asana, DocuSign, Vendr, Zendesk

#### **What We Offer You:**

****Comprehensive Benefits****

-  4 Day Work Week

-  Health, dental, vision insurance - 100% premium coverage for employee and dependents

-  HSA contributions covering 90%+ of annual deductible

- 401(k) with company match and immediate vesting

- Remote work stipends (internet, fitness, coworking space)

- Company-sponsored therapy and coaching sessions
