Job Summary:
The Benefits Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day administration and operational execution of the company's employee benefits programs across the United States and Canada. This role serves as the primary operational owner for health and welfare benefits, retirement programs, leave of absence administration, disability processes, benefits systems, and employee support.
Working closely with employees, managers, vendors, and internal stakeholders, the Benefits Analyst ensures benefits are administered accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable laws and company policies. The role partners extensively with third-party administrators, insurance carriers, payroll, HR Business Partners, and People Operations to deliver an exceptional employee experience while maintaining operational excellence.
This position balances employee-facing support with technical benefits administration, process management, systems configuration, vendor coordination, compliance activities, and continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Administer all U.S. and Canadian employee benefit programs, including but not limited to:
  • Medical, dental, and vision
  • Health Savings Accounts (HSA)
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
  • Retirement savings plans
  • Basic and supplemental life insurance
  • Short-term and long-term disability
  • Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)
  • Critical illness, accident, and other voluntary benefits
  • Ensure timely and accurate enrollment, life event, termination, and eligibility processing.
  • Audit benefit transactions to ensure accuracy between Workday, payroll, carriers, and third-party vendors.
  • Resolve enrollment discrepancies and eligibility issues.
  • Support annual open enrollment planning, testing, execution, communications, and post-enrollment reconciliation.
  • Coordinate implementation of new benefit programs and plan changes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee and manager questions regarding benefit plans and leave programs.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and empathetic support while educating employees on available benefit offerings.
  • Research and resolve complex benefit issues by partnering with vendors, carriers, payroll, and internal stakeholders.
  • Escalate sensitive or complex cases appropriately while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Develop and maintain benefits knowledge articles, FAQs, and employee resources.
  • Coordinate leave administration with third-party leave administrators for U.S. employees.
  • Manage internal leave workflows, including:
  • Tracking leave status
  • Coordinating return-to-work activities
  • Monitoring leave timelines
  • Processing status changes
  • Partnering with payroll on supplemental pay calculations
  • Administer Canadian statutory leave programs in accordance with provincial requirements.
  • Coordinate disability administration and employee communications throughout the leave lifecycle.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners on complex leave situations while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Support benefits-related business processes, eligibility rules, event processing, and security.
  • Perform system testing for benefit plan changes and annual open enrollment.
  • Monitor data integrity and complete regular audits of benefit information.
  • Partner with HRIS and Payroll to troubleshoot system issues and improve processes.
  • Maintain accurate benefit documentation and system procedures.
  • Assist with vendor implementations, renewals, and operational transitions.
  • Coordinate carrier file testing and ongoing eligibility file management.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation administration with carriers and internal stakeholders.
  • Track claims and ensure timely reporting requirements are met.
  • Coordinate payroll impacts and return-to-work activities as needed.
  • Maintain documentation and claim records.
  • Support required benefits reporting, audits, and annual compliance activities.
  • Maintain benefits policies, procedures, and operational documentation.
  • Assist with plan documentation, notices, and employee communications.
  • Identify opportunities to improve benefits operations, employee experience, and administrative efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain operational metrics related to benefits administration.
  • Analyze trends in employee inquiries, leave utilization, and operational performance.
  • Recommend process improvements and automation opportunities.
  • Participate in benefits projects and cross-functional initiatives.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, with experience in benefits or people operations.
  • Experience administering benefits in both the United States and Canada.
  • HR certification (e.g., SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CHRP, CHRL) is preferred.
  • Experience administering HRIS platforms, preferably Workday

Salary Range: $90,000-$103,000 USD
