- EST

### Who we are

Our mission is to bring clarity and control to the world's most complex codebases. AI is accelerating code creation, but the infrastructure to understand, oversee, and evolve that code hasn't kept pace. Sourcegraph gives engineering organizations full visibility across their systems, precise context for their agents, and the ability to execute coordinated code changes at scale. As agentic development becomes the dominant engineering paradigm, we provide the context layer teams need to take control of their codebase.

With Code Search, Deep Search, MCP, and Agentic Batch Changes, we deliver on that mission today - giving engineering teams and their AI tools the cross-repo context to navigate massive codebases with confidence, and the ability to make changes across hundreds of repositories at once.

Companies like Stripe, Reddit, and Leidos rely on Sourcegraph to ship faster and with higher quality. We're backed by a16z, Sequoia, and Redpoint, and proud to operate as a globally distributed team that values high agency, direct communication, and customer love.

If you want to build the infrastructure that lets every engineering team - and every agent they deploy - operate on their codebase with confidence, join us.

### **Hours & location**

However, if you feel qualified, we welcome you to apply regardless of location. No matter what, working hours must overlap with EST for at least 20 hours/week.

- Europe

### **Why this job is exciting**

We are looking for a deeply technical, pragmatic Product Manager to help shape and deliver products for developers and the AI agents working alongside them.

This will initially be the primary Product Manager supporting a small, fast-moving engineering organization. Rather than being embedded within a single team, you will work across several engineering teams to identify priorities, organize customer and product feedback, define requirements, guide products through the experimental, beta, and general availability lifecycle, and enable our Marketing and Go-To-Market teams to bring it to the world .

You will spend significant time working directly with customers, engineering leaders, and developers to understand their needs and translate them into clear product decisions. You will need enough technical depth to discuss implementation tradeoffs, evaluate developer workflows, and represent the product when an engineer is not in the room. You will also need the ability to crisply communicate with non-developers, internal and external, about the value that Sourcegraph delivers.

This is an opportunity to have an outsized impact within a small organization operating much like a startup, while benefiting from Sourcegraph’s enterprise distribution and access to customers with some of the largest and most complex codebases in the world.

📅 Within one month, you will…

- Ramp up on Sourcegraph’s products, customers, technical architecture, go-to-market pitch, and product strategy.
- Build strong working relationships with engineering leaders and the teams you will support.
- Join customer conversations and develop an understanding of their workflows, pain points, and priorities.
- Review and begin organizing existing customer feedback, product ideas, and active experiments.

📅 Within three months, you will…

- Establish a clear process for gathering, organizing, and prioritizing product feedback across teams.
- Translate customer problems into clear product requirements, specifications, and success criteria.
- Help teams make pragmatic prioritization decisions across customer requests, product investments, and technical work including market research and competitive analysis.
- Support the product lifecycle of experimental and beta features, including customer discovery, iteration, launch planning, and measurement.
- Provide greater clarity beyond engineering on what we are building, why it matters, and how we will determine whether it is successful.

📅 Within six months, you will…

- Own product prioritization and planning across the engineering teams, and act as the glue between EPD, revenue, and marketing.
- Guide key products from early experimentation through beta and general availability.
- Develop a strong understanding of Sourcegraph’s customers and become a trusted representative of their needs.
- Establish scalable systems for product discovery, feedback management, specification, launch, pricing and packaging, and iteration.
- Help define the broader product strategy for how developers and AI agents make changes across large and complex codebases, and represent that vision in public.
- Improve the organization’s ability to make focused, evidence-based product decisions without introducing unnecessary processes.
- Represent Product and Engineering across the company, supporting sales enablement and product marketing functions.

### **About you**

You are a deeply technical Product Manager who is comfortable operating across several teams and product areas at once. You can move between customer discovery, strategy, product specifications, prioritization, and launch execution based on what the organization needs most.

You are energized by startup environments where roles are broad, context changes quickly, and progress depends on people taking ownership beyond narrowly defined responsibilities. You do not need a large product organization, extensive research support, or a mature operating process to make effective decisions. You are comfortable creating structure where it is useful while avoiding process for its own sake.

You are pragmatic. You know that the best product decision is not always the most ambitious or technically sophisticated one. You consider customer value, engineering effort, product quality, strategic importance, and speed when helping teams determine what to build.

You have meaningful experience with software development, whether through a previous engineering role or sustained hands-on coding experience. You understand how developers work and can discuss technical constraints and tradeoffs credibly. You can explain and defend product decisions with customers, executives, and engineers, even when the engineering team is not present.

You are comfortable spending significant time with customers. You ask thoughtful questions, identify the underlying problems behind feature requests, and distinguish between an individual request and a broader market need. You can turn fragmented feedback into actionable insights and clear product direction.

You are also an excellent communicator. You tell the story behind why a product or initiative matters, creating alignment across engineering and the broader organization. You bring clarity to ambiguous problems without pretending to have certainty where it does not exist.

Because this role will work closely with leaders in Eastern Time and with customers primarily located in North America, you must have substantial working-hour overlap with the Eastern Time zone.

- 5+ years of experience working in product management, including experience within an early-stage company, startup, or similarly small and fast-moving organization.
- Previous professional software engineering experience or substantial hands-on coding experience.
- Experience building technical products for developers, engineering teams, or other highly technical users.
- Experience working directly with customers throughout product discovery, development, beta testing, and launch.
- Experience translating customer problems and technical concepts into clear product requirements and specifications.
- Experience prioritizing work across multiple teams, stakeholders, and competing customer needs.
- Ability to operate as the primary Product Manager across several engineering teams rather than within one narrowly defined product area.
- Strong understanding of software development workflows, Git, source control, and modern developer tooling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate credibly with both engineers and customers.
- Demonstrated ability to use qualitative feedback, product data, and strategic context to make pragmatic product decisions.
- Ability to work effectively with significant Eastern Time zone overlap.

Nice-to-haves:

- Experience building products involving AI agents, coding assistants, code generation, or large language models, and a strong stance on how AI will change the way software is being built.
- Experience with developer tools, code search, code intelligence, compilers, IDEs, or large-scale code transformation.
- Experience working with enterprise customers and complex software development organizations.
- You enjoy writing code and are comfortable exploring or contributing to a production codebase.
