This is an internship of up to 6 months, expected to start in early October 2026. Candidates must be based in Nairobi and have access to a home office setup that supports full-time remote work.
Responsibilities

  • Develop financial models for climate mitigation and adaptation investments, conduct due diligence on climate-aligned transactions, and support the structuring of green and blue finance solutions
  • Write detailed, high-level reports on climate-critical sustainable finance topics including renewable energy transition, climate-aligned debt instruments, low-carbon and climate-resilient transport, nature-based solutions and biodiversity finance, climate-smart agriculture, water security, and climate adaptation in the built environment
  • Research and analyse climate impacts, risks, and finance solutions across energy transition, climate-smart agriculture, water and food security, resilient infrastructure, and ecosystem restoration sectors, with emphasis on investment relevance and financial implications
  • Prepare presentations, technical documents, and financial briefing materials in support of BwB's climate finance advisory engagements
  • Conduct high-level research on climate data, climate risk metrics, climate impact measurement frameworks, and market opportunities relevant to investment projects
  • Organise and support climate finance events, manage climate-focused projects, and engage key stakeholders across the climate finance and development ecosystem
  • Contribute to multiple climate and nature-positive projects, ensuring climate-related deliverables are completed accurately and on deadline
  • Support the design and execution of climate resilience, net-zero transition, and nature-positive investment solutions

Skills required

  • Strong proficiency in Excel, financial modelling fundamentals, and comfort with quantitative analysis—you should be able to build and interpret financial models
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex climate and finance concepts to diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated understanding of how climate risk and opportunity drive investment decisions and finance structuring
  • Highly motivated with a strong desire to develop expertise in climate finance, green investment structuring, and climate impact measurement
  • Strong report writing skills, particularly on technical climate and finance topics, and excellent project timeline management
  • Able to work independently, ensuring climate-related deliverables are completed accurately and to deadline
  • Collaborative team player ready to adapt to new challenges in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment focused on climate solutions
  • Desirable skills include: climate risk assessment, climate scenario modelling, climate impact quantification, presentation design, and experience building financial models for green and climate investments
  • Fluency in English is required; fluency in a second language is highly desirable
  • A recent graduate with a background in Finance, Economics, Sustainable Finance, or related field, with demonstrated interest and capability in climate finance or climate solutions
  • Evidence of building climate expertise through coursework, projects, research, or professional experience—we're looking for finance-trained candidates who have developed climate knowledge, rather than climate specialists pivoting to finance
  • Demonstrated understanding of climate science, climate risks, or climate finance solutions and their relevance to investment decisions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and comfort with quantitative tools

Application Deadline: 22 September 2026
