Senior Manager, Enterprise Patient Engagement Operations
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will support the coordination and execution of patient engagement activities across Amgen's enterprise and portfolio teams. Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, this individual will help ensure a consistent, seamless, and patient-centered approach to engagement across the organization.
The Senior Manager will drive operational excellence and continuity across end-to-end patient engagement activities, supporting onboarding, strategic communications, storytelling initiatives, key meetings and events, and enterprise-wide collaboration. This role will help connect efforts across functions and therapeutic areas, ensuring alignment, visibility, and effective execution of patient engagement priorities. Through strong coordination, project management, and stakeholder engagement, the Senior Manager will contribute to delivering superior patient experiences and strengthening Amgen's commitment to patients across the enterprise.
This position is remote, with travel anticipated to support key meetings, events, and cross-functional collaboration, and will report to the Director of Enterprise Advocacy Operations.
Responsibilities:
- Drive enterprise-wide patient engagement operational excellence across all therapeutic areas by establishing and continuously improving capabilities, tools, processes, governance frameworks, and best practices that enable consistent, scalable, and high-impact engagement with patients and patient communities.
- Support coordination and alignment of patient engagement activities across Amgen functions, ensuring integration with therapeutic area and enterprise priorities.
- Serve as the primary liaison to R&D Operations and key cross-functional partners to enhance patient engagement planning, governance, execution, and operational effectiveness across the enterprise.
- Partner closely with Amgen's global and cross-functional operations teams to facilitate the efficient execution of patient engagement activities, ensuring operational requirements are effectively communicated, prioritized, and delivered in alignment with enterprise standards, timelines, and stakeholder needs.
- Oversee day-to-day enterprise patient engagement operations, including project management, resource planning, engagement oversight, process optimization, and reporting.
- Support the execution of patient engagement communications and storytelling initiatives that elevate patient perspectives, increase visibility of engagement activities, and strengthen internal stakeholder alignment.
- Manage and ensure patient engagement activities are conducted in accordance with company policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and enhanced patient-centered approaches throughout the engagement lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of patient engagement, patient advocacy and/or healthcare policy experience
OR
Master’s degree and 4 years of patient engagement, patient advocacy and/or healthcare policy experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of patient engagement, patient advocacy and/or healthcare policy experience
OR
Associate’s degree and 10 years of patient engagement, patient advocacy and/or healthcare policy experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of patient engagement, patient advocacy and/or healthcare policy experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in patient engagement, patient advocacy, healthcare operations, public affairs, stakeholder engagement, program management, or related fields.
- Proven ability to build and sustain trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including patient organizations, patient communities, caregivers and other patient community stakeholders.
- Strong operational and strategic mindset with demonstrated success designing, implementing, and continuously improving enterprise processes, capabilities, and programs.
- Strategic and operational thinker with demonstrated ability to design, implement, and continuously improve patient engagement enterprise programs, processes, and capabilities that align with organizational objectives.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional programs or initiatives, including project and timeline management, resource coordination, issue resolution, and execution across multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of healthcare industry compliance, legal, medical, and regulatory considerations related to patient engagement and external stakeholder interactions.
- Experience developing and optimizing operational processes, governance frameworks, workflows, and performance measures to drive efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
- Experience working in a global, highly matrixed organization and collaborating across functions, geographies, and business units.
- Exceptional organizational, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to drive results through operational excellence and continuous improvement.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
