About the Role:

At Extend, the People team partners closely with our business and strategically collaborates with our people to enable everyone’s best work. We believe great People teams don't create process for process' sake, they build scalable systems, coach leaders through complexity, and create an environment where high-performing teams can thrive.

We're looking for a People Generalist to join our team and support the day-to-day operations across the company, which are pivotal to keeping our team running smoothly. This is a hands-on role for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, eager to learn, and passionate about creating a great employee experience. One day you may be helping onboard a new hire or answering a benefits question; the next you're maintaining HRIS records or helping coordinate a company-wide People program.

You'll be a go-to resource for employees and managers on everyday People questions, keeping our core HR processes accurate and on time while gaining exposure across the full People function.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to build a broad foundation across HR, while leveraging technology and AI to automate and improve processes, making managers' and employees' day-to-day experience better.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employees and managers on HR policies, processes, and everyday questions.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding, including new hire paperwork, orientation, and exit processes.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and data in our HRIS, ensuring compliance and data integrity
  • Help administer benefits enrollment, leave of absence requests, and other People operations processes.
  • Support performance management cycles and talent reviews by coordinating timelines, materials, and communications.
  • Help document and route employee relations concerns as needed.
  • Partner with Recruiting, and People Operations to deliver a seamless employee experience.
  • Help coordinate People programs and initiatives, including engagement, learning and development, and recognition programs (such as Mento and LinkedIn Learning)
  • Prepare reports and help analyze People metrics to support the team's decision-making.
  • Help plan and coordinate company events, on- and off-sites, and other People team activities
  • Maintain and audit People records and required compliance documentation.
  • Support fellow members of the People team with day-to-day administrative and coordination needs.
  • Support internal communications related to People programs, policy updates, and key initiatives to help keep employees informed and engaged.
  • Serve as a liaison for hiring managers kicking off recruitment efforts, helping ensure adherence to employer branding and process best practices.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve People Team processes, infrastructure, and policies, and help implement solutions, leveraging tech/AI
  • Work closely with managers and employees to help strengthen working relationships, build morale, and support productivity and retention.
  • Jump in wherever needed. We're a small, hardworking, collaborative team that values ownership and impact over titles.

What We're Looking For:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience, ideally in a generalist, business partner, consultant, or operations role in a fast-paced company.
  • Experience supporting employees and managers with day-to-day questions and processes.
  • Familiarity with core HR processes including onboarding, benefits, performance management, and compliance.
  • Experience or strong interest in leveraging AI to optimize and automate workflows.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and influencing skills.
  • Strong judgment and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced, growing organization.
  • A collaborative, low-ego approach and willingness to roll up your sleeves. Resilience, flexibility and the ability to work quickly and effectively cross-functionally
  • Proficient in using HRIS systems and comfortable learning new tools; genuine interest in building a career in People/HR.
  • Resourceful and curious, with the ability to work through unfamiliar problems as a fast, adaptable learner.
  • Strong emotional intelligence.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Human Resources, Business, Management, Psychology, or a related field.

Expected Pay Range:  $120,000 - $140,000*

* The target base salary range for this position is listed above. Individual salaries are determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills and experience.

Extend does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
Life at Extend:

  • Working with a great team from diverse backgrounds in a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Competitive salary based on experience, with full medical and dental & vision benefits.
  • Stock in an early-stage startup growing quickly.
  • Generous, flexible paid time off policy.
  • 401(k) with Financial Guidance from Morgan Stanley.
