Patreon is a media and community platform where over 300,000 creators give their biggest fans access to exclusive work and experiences. We offer creators a variety of ways to engage with their fans and build lasting businesses, including paid and free memberships, community chats, live experiences, and one-time purchases.

Ultimately, our goal is simple: fund the creative class. We’re leaders in that space, with:

- $10 billion+ generated by creators since Patreon’s inception

- 100 million+ free memberships for fans who may not be ready to pay just yet

- 25 million+ paid memberships on Patreon today

We’re continuing to invest in building the best creator platform and team in the creator economy. We’re looking for a Senior Lifecycle Marketing Manager to help advance that mission.

This role is based in New York or San Francisco and is open to candidates who can work in-office two days per week under our hybrid model.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Growth Marketing team builds demand for Patreon and turns audience interest into durable relationships between fans and creators. Our remit spans Paid Media, Marketing Partnerships, SEO, and Lifecycle, with close partnership across Product, Product Marketing, Data, Engineering, Brand, Creative, Policy, Trust & Safety, and other teams.

Lifecycle is a critical growth capability at Patreon. Today, the opportunity extends well beyond individual email campaigns: we need a connected strategy for how Patreon engages both fans and creators across their journeys, a strong operating model for the channel, and the data and marketing technology foundation to deliver relevant experiences at scale. The immediate priority is building a more intentional fan lifecycle program while continuing to support and strengthen creator communications.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Senior Lifecycle Marketing Manager to serve as the strategic and operational owner of Patreon’s lifecycle program across both fan and creator audiences. The initial priority will be defining and building the fan lifecycle, while also owning the strategy, governance, and execution of creator lifecycle communications. This is a high-impact senior individual contributor role for someone who can set the vision, build the systems, align collaborators, and remain close enough to execution to ensure the work ships with quality.

You’ll define how Patreon engages fans from their first interaction through activation, engagement, conversion, retention, and re-engagement—helping fans discover more of what they love and deepen their relationships with creators. You’ll also shape how Patreon communicates with creators across onboarding, activation, growth, engagement, retention, product adoption, and critical operational moments, partnering with our Creator Success teams along the way.

This role also owns the operating and technical foundation that makes lifecycle effective: audience strategy, journey architecture, measurement, experimentation, channel governance, deliverability, localization, data quality, and the marketing technology roadmap. You’ll be the senior lifecycle expert for the company and a trusted partner to leaders across Marketing, Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Data.

This is not an advisory-only role. You’ll translate strategy into an executable roadmap, directly build and launch priority programs, establish repeatable processes, and create the foundation for a team as the function scales.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

- Own the lifecycle strategy and roadmap end to end. Define the audience framework, lifecycle moments, journey architecture, channel strategy, orchestration approach, personalization model, and prioritized use cases that guide Patreon’s lifecycle investment.

- Champion both sides of Patreon’s ecosystem. Develop a deep understanding of fan and creator motivations and behavior, identify the highest-impact opportunities across both lifecycle journeys, and ensure programs strengthen the relationship among fans, creators, and Patreon. Initially, focus the greatest investment on building the fan lifecycle while maintaining thoughtful, effective creator communications.

- Build and execute multi-channel programs. Personally design, write, build, QA, launch, and optimize high-priority campaigns and automated journeys in Braze across lifecycle touchpoints.

- Lead lifecycle’s marketing technology agenda. Assess the current stack, define the roadmap for Braze and adjacent capabilities, improve platform configuration, shape integration and data requirements, manage vendor relationships, and build business cases for priority investments.

- Own audience and data quality. Partner with Data Science, Data Engineering, Engineering, Product, Trust & Safety, and Policy to define source-of-truth attributes, improve data freshness, establish durable suppression logic, and ensure targeting and personalization are accurate and safe.

- Create the lifecycle operating model. Establish a clear intake, prioritization, planning, build, localization, QA, approval, launch, and post-launch process. Maintain the lifecycle calendar, make tradeoffs visible, and ensure urgent requests do not displace strategic work without deliberate prioritization.

- Protect channel health and user trust. Own deliverability, frequency management, audience overlap, consent and unsubscribe requirements, compliance readiness, high-risk send safeguards, and incident-response standards.

- Develop the measurement and experimentation system. Define KPIs tied to engagement, conversion, retention, and downstream creator value; build or commission dashboards; design rigorous tests; synthesize results; and turn learnings into program improvements.

- Lead cross-functional delivery. Bring the right partners together, clarify decision rights and ownership, surface dependencies early, and drive complex initiatives from ambiguous problem through launch and measurement.

- Raise the bar for lifecycle across Patreon. Serve as the company’s expert on when and how to use lifecycle channels, create self-serve guidance and reusable systems, coach collaborators, and influence roadmaps without relying on formal authority.

- Build for scale. Document key decisions, architecture, processes, risks, and learnings; improve team capabilities; and help define future roles and resourcing as the lifecycle function grows.

- Use AI thoughtfully. Apply AI to accelerate journey design, audience development, QA, analysis, and workflow automation while maintaining strong judgment and appropriate safeguards.

ABOUT YOU

- You care deeply about Patreon’s mission and values. You’re inspired by our goal to fund the creative class and motivated to put creators first, build with craft, make it happen, and win together.

- You’ve built and owned a lifecycle program—not just individual campaigns. You’ve created strategy, operating rhythms, journey architecture, measurement, and technical foundations in an ambiguous or evolving environment.

- You combine strategy with hands-on execution. You can establish a multi-year vision and investment roadmap, then open Braze and build the journey, troubleshoot the audience, review the copy, and get the program live.

- You’re a Braze power user with strong marketing technology judgment. You understand canvases, segmentation, triggers, personalization, experimentation, channel configuration, and platform governance. Experience with Iterable and platform migrations is a plus.

- You’re technically fluent. You can partner credibly with Engineering and Data teams on event taxonomies, identity and profile architecture, integrations, APIs, data pipelines, source-of-truth fields, freshness, and suppression logic. SQL proficiency is strongly preferred.

- You know how to turn data into decisions. You define success metrics, evaluate performance independently, identify meaningful patterns, and make clear recommendations without waiting for perfect information.

- You understand fans, creators, communities, and two-sided ecosystems. You’re energized by the challenge of serving distinct but interconnected audiences—helping fans deepen their engagement while enabling creators to activate, grow, and retain their communities. Experience at a creator platform, marketplace, subscription, media, or community business is a strong plus.

- You exercise strong independent judgment. You’re comfortable making consequential decisions about prioritization, audience risk, channel health, and launch readiness—and willing to pause or redirect work when the user or business risk is too high.

- You lead complex work across teams. You can align senior stakeholders, translate between technical and non-technical audiences, resolve ambiguity, and influence Marketing, Product, Data, Engineering, Creative, and operational partners without formal authority.

- You build with craft and improve systems. You have a high bar for copy, targeting, user experience, and operational quality, while knowing when to move quickly. You replace fragile one-off work with repeatable processes and scalable capabilities.

- You make others better. You give and receive direct feedback, coach teammates and partners, share context generously, and help create an inclusive, high-performing environment. You’re excited to help build and eventually lead a growing lifecycle function.

- You bring substantial lifecycle experience. You have 8+ years in lifecycle, CRM, retention, growth, or a related field, including experience owning complex programs at meaningful scale. Equivalent experience that demonstrates the capabilities above is welcome.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Within your first year, Patreon has:

- A clear, prioritized lifecycle strategy and roadmap spanning fan and creator audiences, aligned to company goals and sequenced around the initial fan opportunity

- A shared lifecycle operating model with explicit intake, ownership, approvals, service levels, and launch standards across fan and creator communications

- High-impact fan journeys live and improving across onboarding, activation, engagement, conversion, retention, and re-engagement, alongside a clear strategy and stronger execution for creator lifecycle communications

- Reliable measurement and a disciplined experimentation cadence tied to business outcomes

- A documented marketing technology and data roadmap, with critical targeting, freshness, suppression, and platform risks actively addressed

- Stronger lifecycle partnership across Marketing, Product, Data, Engineering, and other teams

- A scalable foundation for adding channels, use cases, and future team members without compromising user trust or execution quality
