We are looking for a **Product Owner II** to join our product team and own the future of our managed and automated marketing products — the experience that helps our financial institution partners deliver targeted, personalized credit & deposit offers to their customers. This role sits at the intersection of technical delivery, marketing strategy, and business outcomes, working closely with engineers, designers, data science, QA, and go-to-market teams to translate product vision into well-defined, high-quality deliverables.
This is more than a backlog-management role. You'll help define what “automated marketing” becomes at SavvyMoney: evolving traditional marketing tactics into an intelligent engine that delivers the right offer, through the right channel, at the right moment. You should be as comfortable discussing conversion funnels, creative testing, and channel strategy as you are writing a detailed PRD or running a sprint ceremony. You will be involved in agile ceremonies, own the product backlog, and be the primary voice of the business to your development squad.
**Responsibilities -**
**Always-On Marketing Strategy & Roadmap**
- Partner with Product Management, Data Science, and Marketing leadership to evolve our offer campaigns from scheduled, batch-driven marketing into an always-on engine that continuously scores and targets high-propensity users for loan and deposit products.
- Translate propensity models and audience/segmentation strategy into clear product requirements, working closely with data science on what signals drive targeting decisions.
- Help define the roadmap for how automated marketing capabilities extend across products (auto, personal loan, credit card, home equity, deposits, and beyond).
**Channel, Creative & Content Collaboration**
- Work with marketing, creative, and content teams to plan and prioritize campaign experiences across channels — digital banking widgets, email, SMS/push, direct mail, and in-app placements.
- Translate creative and content strategy (messaging, offer presentation, personalization) into detailed requirements and acceptance criteria for the engineering squad.
- Help establish a test-and-learn cadence for creative and channel experiments, partnering with internal & external teams on what to test and engineering on how to instrument it.
**Conversion Funnel Measurement & Optimization**
- Own the definition and instrumentation of the conversion funnel — from targeting and offer presentation through application and funding — in partnership with Analytics/BI.
- Use funnel data to identify drop-off points, prioritize backlog items that address them, and measure the impact of shipped features against funnel and business metrics.
- Build a regular cadence of reporting out funnel performance, test results, and learnings to the squad, Product Managers, and leadership.
**Requirements Gathering & Documentation**
- Partner with the Product Manager, internal stakeholders, and go-to-market teams to gather, document, and validate product requirements.
- Transform mid-to-high-level Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) from key stakeholders into detailed, low-level PRDs — including edge cases, dependencies, and integration considerations.
- Create comprehensive epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria from detailed PRDs; keep all documentation current as requirements evolve.
**Backlog Management & Prioritization**
- Own and maintain a healthy, prioritized product backlog that aligns with overall product strategy and roadmap commitments.
- Make real-time prioritization decisions in response to changing business needs, technical discoveries, campaign performance data, or partner feedback.
- Continuously refine backlog items to ensure the squad is always working on the highest-value, best-understood stories.
**Sprint Planning & Agile Ceremonies**
- Run agile ceremonies in partnership with your Technical Program Manager — sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Drive squad velocity by removing blockers, maintaining clarity on goals, and fostering a high-performing team culture.
- Lead communications during sprint reviews, clearly conveying what was delivered and why it matters — for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
**Stakeholder Communication & Rollout Collaboration**
- Serve as the primary communication bridge between the development squad and business stakeholders, ensuring shared understanding of scope, status, and expectations.
- Proactively collaborate with market-facing teams (sales, partner success, marketing) on product roll-out plans, timing, and partner communications.
- Coordinate with the Offers squad and Product Managers to ensure alignment on shared, cross-squad owned products.
**Testing, Validation & Quality**
- Partner with QA teams to define test cases and acceptance criteria for all user stories, including campaign targeting logic and compliance-sensitive rules.
- Participate in acceptance testing activities to confirm that delivered features meet specified requirements before release.
- Champion quality standards within the squad, ensuring edge cases and corner scenarios are addressed during refinement — not discovered post-launch.
**Product Documentation**
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date product documentation, including release notes, user guides, and functional specifications.
- Ensure documentation is accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences (including marketing and partner-facing teams) and reflects the current state of the product.
**Qualifications -**
**Required**
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in a product owner or product management role, with a strong focus on requirements refinement, story definition, and backlog management.
- Demonstrated proficiency with agile methodologies and hands-on experience with tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Working knowledge of marketing channels (email, SMS/push, direct mail, in-app/widget placements) and how creative and content decisions affect campaign performance.
- Experience building, measuring, and iterating on conversion funnels, with comfort interpreting funnel and campaign performance data to inform prioritization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex business and marketing requirements into actionable engineering work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable leading meetings and presenting to cross-functional stakeholders, including marketing and creative teams.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and make confident, data-informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
**Preferred / Nice to Have**
- Background in consumer lending, deposits, personal finance, or the credit reporting space.
- Experience working on customer-facing offer or marketing platforms.
- Familiarity with offer engines, propensity/recommendation models, or audience-targeting systems in a fintech context.
- Experience with marketing automation or campaign management platforms (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud) and A/B or multivariate testing practices.
- Understanding of regulatory considerations around prescreened credit offers.
**Base salary**
The annual base salary for this position is $130,000 to $145,000 based on experience and geography.
**Additionally we provide**
- Equity Compensation Package
