About Homeward

Homeward takes the “what ifs” out of homebuying by creating financial products that give buyers and sellers certainty and convenience. We’re a fast-paced, remote-first real estate startup that partners with real estate agents to offer innovative products and services, helping clients buy with cash, sell with certainty, and time their move, regardless of the market.

Founder and CEO Tim Heyl, owner of one of the fastest-growing agent teams in the country, started Homeward in 2018 to fix the antiquated and broken real estate process. Today, we offer bundled cash offers, mortgage, and title services in 13 states, enabling buyers and sellers to move with certainty and convenience.

We’re a fully remote company with a diverse team spread across several countries - Grounded in three core values: The Golden Rule, One Team One Dream, and Calm Focus. Hear from our employees about what our values mean to them.

About the opportunity
Homeward Mortgage is hiring a Manager of Mortgage Sales to lead a small, high-producing team of Loan Officers and help us continue building a differentiated mortgage experience for Homeward’s buyers and agents.
Our Loan Officers operate in a high-volume environment, and this leader will be responsible for setting them up to consistently perform at an exceptional level. That means establishing clear expectations, holding the team accountable, coaching sales performance, and creating an environment where every Loan Officer takes ownership of every opportunity.
This is a highly hands-on leadership role. We are looking for someone who is willing to get into the weeds when a deal becomes difficult, whether that means digging into agency or investor guidelines, helping structure a complex scenario, coaching an agent conversation, or partnering with Operations to overcome an obstacle.
The right person is a strong sales leader with deep mortgage guideline knowledge who can solve problems, improve how the team operates, and knows when to coach the team versus when to jump in and help get a deal across the finish line.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
In this role, you will:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a small team of high-producing Loan Officers, creating the structure and support they need to successfully manage high volume.
  • Monitor team and individual KPIs and SLAs, identify performance gaps, and translate data into specific coaching and action plans.
  • Foster a culture where every viable opportunity matters. Strong lead volume should never create complacency; we expect our team to fight for every customer and every deal.
  • Develop and maintain deep expertise in conventional, FHA, VA, investor, and Homeward-specific lending guidelines, becoming a trusted escalation point for complex scenarios.
  • Coach Loan Officers on sales conversations, objection handling, follow-up strategy, agent communication, and effective pipeline prioritization.
  • Develop Loan Officers who build strong agent relationships and become trusted financing partners to Homeward’s agent network.
  • Step into customer and agent escalations when leadership involvement can help protect the relationship, transaction, or customer experience.
  • Build a strong Sales and Operations partnership grounded in shared accountability. Hold the Sales team responsible for strong file quality and execution to mitigate preventable issues to move downstream.
  • Partner with Mortgage leadership and broader Homeward teams as we develop and improve unique Homeward mortgage products and offerings.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings and 1:1s that are actionable, performance-focused, and valuable to the Loan Officer team.
  • Foster a competitive but highly collaborative team environment aligned with Homeward’s Values and Culture.
  • Operate comfortably in a lean, fast-moving environment where leaders are expected to be resourceful, make sound decisions, and help build solutions..

What you’ll bring:

  • 5+ years of residential mortgage experience, including direct experience originating purchase loans.
  • 2+ years of experience leading, coaching, or managing Loan Officers in a high-production sales environment.
  • Deep working knowledge of conventional, FHA, VA, and NonQM guidelines, with a demonstrated ability to research, interpret, and apply agency and investor requirements to complex borrower scenarios.
  • Proven experience leading a team to meet or exceed sales and conversion goals.
  • A customer- and agent-first mindset with high standards for communication, urgency, and follow-through.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use performance data to identify opportunities and drive action.
  • Excellent judgment and the ability to balance sales urgency, customer advocacy, credit risk, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong cross-functional partnership skills and the ability to build productive relationships with Operations, Underwriting, Secondary, Compliance, Product, and senior leadership.
  • Comfort operating in an environment where not everything has already been built and where leaders are expected to help create the solution.
  • Strong ownership, high standards, and a bias toward action.
  • A genuine desire to set your team up for success and make the people around you better.
  • The drive to help build differentiated mortgage solutions that improve the real estate experience for Homeward’s customers and agents.

Compensation & Benefits

Value-Driven Employee Experience

THE GOLDEN RULE. It’s simple: Treat others the way we want to be treated. Whether we’re dealing with colleagues or customers, we don’t prioritize money or growth over people, and we practice empathy at every opportunity.

CALM FOCUS. We work in tech and build solutions for real estate. Both are fast-paced and stressful industries. But by focusing on the larger objective rather than rushing from one task to the next, we can create solutions our customers love.

ONE TEAM, ONE DREAM. Big problems require big solutions. We look at our customers’ experiences holistically and recognize that solving them requires collaboration across teams and our three affiliate companies — Homeward, Homeward Mortgage and Homeward Title.
