Looking for Philippines-based candidates
Job Role: Senior AI Developer
Compensation range: $4,000 AUD - $5,000 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type:Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with Brisbane business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.
Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.
Who The Client Is: A training organisation delivering nationally recognised hospitality training across Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The business is focused on improving student outcomes and modernizing its internal processes through AI, with a growing focus on streamlining compliance documentation, assessment mapping, policies, and training strategies.
Role Overview: You will be our first dedicated AI developer and the technical owner of a five-tool suite in addition to other tools as they evolve to streamline and support the management of the training organisation. Each tool takes national training package data, combines it with our own context and materials, and produces audit-ready drafts that our team reviews and finalizes.
This is a hands-on build role with real ownership. You will shape the architecture, choose the right models and services, write the code, test accuracy against human experts, and deliver polished tools our non-technical staff use every day
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the technical design, build, testing and release of all five tools
- Engineer prompts, retrieval pipelines and structured outputs that keep every claim grounded in source documents
- Build evaluation sets with our compliance team, and measure accuracy against human reviewers
- Create high-quality document exports using proper Word styles, templates and branding
- Manage hosting, security, data handling and costs, with clear reporting on usage and spend
- Translate VET and compliance requirements into practical features, asking sharp questions along the way
- Document everything clearly so the suite stays maintainable and fully owned by 1 Education
- Spot new automation opportunities across the business and bring ideas to the table
What You Will Build
Tool 1
Assessment Tool Mapper (TOP PRIORITY)
Validates an assessment tool against every requirement of the units in a cluster, with evidence and reasoning for each decision.
- Ingest assessment tools (Word, PDF) and pull unit requirements from training.gov.au, recording the release version used
- Rate every performance criterion, performance evidence, knowledge evidence, foundation skill and assessment condition as Fully, Partially or Not Covered
- Cite the exact evidence location (document, section, question, page) with a short quote, plus a rationale and suggested fix for each gap
- Track required volumes such as "on at least 3 occasions" and route context-dependent items to a human reviewer
- Produce a colour-coded validation report (Word, PDF, optional Excel matrix) with executive summary, gap list, cross-unit matrix and reviewer sign-off
- Target 85%+ agreement with experienced human validators, with every rating linked to real document text
Tool 2
Assessment Tool Generator
Generates a complete, compliant assessment pack for one or more units, ready for a qualified assessor to review.
- Knowledge questions across multiple formats, each with a model answer, acceptable response range and satisfactory benchmark
- Observation checklists linked to performance criteria and evidence, with assessor instructions, resources and S / NYS outcomes
- Full pack structure: cover sheet, student and assessor instructions, reasonable adjustment guidance, marking guide, results summary and appeals note
- Context settings for industry, job role, workplace type and learner level, with single-question regeneration and version history
- Mapping matrix showing 100% coverage, with output that passes the Tool 1 validator with every item covered
Tool 3
Training and Assessment Strategy (TAS) Generator
Turns a guided questionnaire into a detailed, audit-ready TAS written to the Standards for RTOs 2025.
- Pull qualification packaging rules, core and elective units, AQF level and nominal hours, and check elective choices against packaging rules
- Design a branching, save-as-you-go questionnaire with help text and examples that an RTO representative completes unaided
- Generate a tailored TAS with delivery schedule, amount of training rationale, assessment strategy, RPL, learner support and validation
- Map content to the 2025 Outcome Standards, holding the Standards as editable reference data with a recorded version
- Export a clean Word document with styles, clickable contents, well-behaved tables and versioned headers and footers
Tool 4
Learner Guide Generator
Creates contextualized learning resources in print, slide and online formats, aligned to the matching assessment tool.
- Cover every element, performance criterion, knowledge evidence item and foundation skill, tailored to industry and job role
- Read the assessment tool and produce an alignment matrix linking unit requirement, learning content and assessment item
- Output a print-ready and screen-friendly Word Learning Guide, a PowerPoint deck per unit with speaker notes, and SCORM 1.2 / 2004 packages
- Interactive knowledge checks and completion tracking in SCORM, accessible to WCAG 2.1 AA and tested on a live platform
- Cite legislation and codes of practice for reviewer verification, with section-level regeneration and version history
Tool 5
Procedure and Policy Generator
Produces a consistent suite of RTO policies, procedures and forms mapped to every clause of the 2025 Standards and Queensland SAS requirements.
- Capture the RTO profile and real operating practice through guided questions, so documents reflect how the business actually runs
- Generate policies, step-by-step procedures (roles, timeframes, decision points, records) and every linked form and template
- Apply one master template for identical styles, numbering, version control and terminology across the suite
- Build a master compliance matrix by clause and by document, with gap flagging, plus an Excel document register
- Flow edits through related documents, forms and the matrix, with change logs and approval sign-off
Shared Platform Foundations
All five tools share a common core. Building this well once is where your senior judgement makes the biggest difference.
- Training package data. Reliable retrieval from training.gov.au web services and data feeds, with release-version tracking and manual unit upload as an override.
- Reference data. The 2025 Standards and SAS requirements held as versioned, editable data, so updates flow through without a rebuild.
- Accuracy and hallucination control. Evidence-linked outputs, structured generation, evaluation sets and repeatable results, so the same inputs give consistent outputs.
- Human in the loop. Every output treated as a draft, with clear flags for items needing human input and easy reviewer edits before finalizing.
- Document generation. Professionally styled Word, Excel, PDF, PowerPoint and SCORM outputs with RTO branding.
- Privacy and security. Australian hosting where possible, transparent data handling and model providers configured so RTO content stays out of model training.
- Ease of use. A clean, simple web interface built for non-technical trainers and compliance staff.
- Ownership and handover. Full documentation, with 1 Education owning all code, prompts, templates and accounts.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years building production applications on large language models
- Strong Python and/or TypeScript, with experience building full-stack web applications
- Hands-on work with LLM APIs (Claude, OpenAI or similar), retrieval-augmented generation, structured outputs and document parsing
- A proven approach to accuracy and hallucination control, including evaluation and regression testing
- Experience generating well-formatted Word, Excel and PDF files programmatically (e.g. python-docx, docx, openpyxl)
- Cloud deployment experience (AWS, Azure or GCP), with sound security and data privacy practices
- A portfolio of AI document-analysis, document-generation or compliance tools you have built and shipped
- Excellent written and spoken English, and confidence explaining technical choices to a non-technical owner
Highly Regarded
- Experience in Australian VET, education or another regulated, compliance-heavy sector
- Working knowledge of training.gov.au, units of competency or the Standards for RTOs
- SCORM 1.2 / 2004 packaging and LMS testing experience
- PowerPoint generation (e.g. python-pptx) and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility
- UX design skills for guided questionnaires and wizard-style interfaces
- Agentic AI workflows and tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or similar AI-assisted development
How We Will Measure Success
- Tool 1 ratings agree with an experienced human validator on 85%+ of items, with every rating citing real document text
- Generated assessment packs map 100% of unit requirements and pass the Tool 1 validator in full
- TAS, learner guides and policy suites are judged audit-ready by a compliance consultant with only light editing
- Word, Excel and PowerPoint exports open and edit cleanly, with styles, contents and tables intact
- SCORM packages import and track completion on the test platform
- Our team uses the tools independently, turning hours of work into minutes
Why You Will Love This Role
- Greenfield ownership of a meaningful AI product suite, from architecture to release
- Direct access to the business owner and quick decisions
- Clear, well-scoped briefs for every tool, with room to shape the solution
- Work that helps students build real careers in hospitality
- A long-term pipeline of work, with more AI projects ready once this suite is live
Work Arrangement & Expectations:
This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:
- Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
- Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor”)
