Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Member of Technical Staff (MTS-2) with 2+ years of software development experience to join our API Platform Engineering team. The ideal candidate will contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of scalable cloud-based services and APIs. The engineer will work closely with senior engineers, product managers, and QA teams to deliver high-quality solutions using REST APIs, GraphQL APIs, AWS cloud technologies, and modern software development practices.

This role is ideal for engineers with a strong coding foundation, a passion for distributed systems, and a desire to grow expertise in cloud-native application development.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and Python.

• Develop and enhance RESTful APIs and GraphQL APIs that support customer-facing and internal applications.

• Participate in feature design discussions and contribute to technical solutions for product requirements.

• Build and deploy cloud-native applications and services using AWS technologies.

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while following engineering best practices.

• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production and customer-reported issues.

• Collaborate with Product Management, QA, UX, and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality features.

• Participate in code reviews and continuously improve software quality, reliability, and performance.

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automation, and development productivity initiatives.

• Create and maintain technical documentation for APIs, services, and design decisions.

• Support Agile development processes using Jira and source code management using Bitbucket.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• 2+ years of software development experience.

• Strong programming skills in Node.js and Python.

• Hands-on experience developing and consuming REST APIs and GraphQL APIs.

• Experience working with AWS cloud services.

• Proficiency with Git-based version control systems, Bitbucket, and Jira.

• Understanding of the software development lifecycle, testing methodologies, and Agile practices.

• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with GraphQL schema design and API gateway technologies.

• Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems.

• Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and deployment automation.

• Knowledge of authentication and authorisation mechanisms such as OAuth2 and JWT.

• Experience with database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.

• Understanding of observability tools, logging, and monitoring solutions.

Education

Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience.

Bachelors or Masters degree holder
