A Day in the Life:
- Design, develop, and maintain complex T-SQL queries and stored procedures to support database functionality, testing, and reliability.
- Build and maintain characterization tests to validate existing stored procedure behavior and ensure consistent results as database code evolves.
- Develop automated database testing solutions using tSQLt or golden-master testing approaches to establish baseline behavior and identify regressions.
- Design and implement database replay harnesses, incorporating point-in-time database restores and data masking to support repeatable, secure testing.
- Execute and maintain comprehensive test coverage for in-scope stored procedures, identifying discrepancies and validating expected outputs.
- Actively use AI tools, including Claude through our Anthropic partnership, to streamline tasks, improve the quality of your work, and share best practices with teammates while continuously seeking new ways to integrate AI into your everyday workflows
- Implement and manage database backup, restoration, and data masking processes to support reliable testing environments.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate automated database testing into CI pipelines, improving code validation and deployment reliability.
- Leverage .NET to develop or enhance supporting test harness tools and automation utilities as needed.
What it takes:
- Consultative approach and problem solving skills to successfully align digital solutions with long-term business goals of the client
- Hands-on experience using AI tools to enhance daily work, or a strong desire to do so, including a willingness to experiment, learn, and champion AI adoption within your role
- Claude Certified Developer or Architect highly preferred; possible opportunity to obtain as a Sparq colleague
- Commitment to understanding and exceeding client expectations
- Ability to perform project oversight and execution of deliverables
- Flexibility to adapt within a high-growth organization
- Ability to lead, mentor and motivate those around them
