Software-Based Load Balancing Expert - remote - consultancy

This is a remote position.
We are looking for an experienced engineer or architect who haspersonally designed and implemented large-scale, horizontally scalable software load balancing solutions, using technologies such as HAProxy, NGINX, or equivalent.
The objective is to learn from practical experience how software-based load balancing can provide the required capabilities without relying on hardware load balancer appliances.
Specific scope:
- Architectures supporting hundreds of thousands of requests per second.
- Horizontally scalable farms of software load balancers.
- Load balancing a single application exposed through a single IP address.
- Design approaches such as Anycast, hierarchical load balancing, or other relevant architectures.
- Understanding the design, advantages, disadvantages, and trade-offs of these approaches.
- Limited header rewriting requirements.
The opportunity would initially involve short-term technical consulting, with potential for further work as the project progresses.
Requirements
- Strong experience with F5 BIG-IP
- Hands-on experience with HAProxy, NGINX or similar software load balancers
- Strong knowledge of HTTP, HTTPS, TCP and SSL termination
- Experience designing high-throughput, highly available load-balancing platforms
- Knowledge of Anycast, horizontal scaling and multi-tier load-balancing architectures
- Experience with header/content rewriting is beneficial
Key requirement:We are specifically looking for someone with hands-on experience building and operating solutions of this type at scale, rather than someone offering a theoretical assessment.
