Beehive Industries is dedicated to Powering American Defense by revolutionizing the design, development, and delivery of jet propulsion systems to support the warfighter. Through the integration of additive manufacturing, the company aims to meet the growing and urgent needs for unmanned aerial defense by dramatically improving a jet engine’s speed to market, fuel efficiency, and cost.

Founded in 2020, the company is headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, with additional facilities in Knoxville, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mount Vernon, Ohio. This role can be remote but would prefer this person to live close to our Loveland, Ohio or Englewood, Colorado facilities.

What You'll Do...

• Work with engineers to execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of turbomachinery components and assemblies using sound engineering principles while meeting industry standards and program requirements

• Create definitions of parts, modules, and assemblies in the form of 2D cross sections, 3D models, tolerance stackups, and electronic data formats to support analysis, manufacturing, and assembly.  Provide quality checks to eliminate interferences and to ensure interface requirements are met.  Ensure drawings and models are managed consistent with industry standards for configuration management

• Perform “reverse engineering” by using scan data and creating new part models using parametric modeling

• Ensure product designs follow standards for Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

• Support design reviews and collaborate with other disciplines in design, performance, controls, and system integration

• Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments

• Participate in the research and development of technologies and methodologies associated with additive design.  Advise on ways to improve product design through the exploitation of additive manufacturing

• Role will initially be an individual contributor comfortable working in a dynamic self-directed start-up environment.  As the organization grows, this role will be responsible for scaling design capability to support additional projects which will likely include some future team leadership.  Being able to grow leadership capabilities with the role will be critical

• Assure proper documentation of technical data generated consistent with engineering best practices

You have...

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Industrial Design from an accredited university or college

• At least 6 years of experience in design of gas turbine components

• Strong expertise in design software tools (NX, SolidWorks, etc)

• Experience with handling 3D scan data and creating parametric models based on re-interpreted scan data

• System level CAD model, parametric modeling, and PLM/PDM experience

• Experience working with additive manufacturing technologies and familiarity with design for additive manufacturing principles

• Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

• Passion for additive technology and willingness to challenge current design limitations to further exploit the benefits of additive capability

• Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills

• Demonstrated problem solving ability and strong program leadership and execution skills

• Proven self-starter and quick learner who can work in fast-paced cross-functional teams

• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance
