Build trust into the future of global payments
Veem helps businesses move money across borders with greater speed, visibility, and control. Serving more than 1.5 million users across 100+ countries, we’re building payment solutions for the real needs of SMB and mid-market businesses.
We’re also building for the long term. Veem has been profitable since 2020 while continuing to invest in its platform, global capabilities, and new financial products. That combination creates an opportunity to make a meaningful impact at a growing fintech with the stability to think beyond the next quarter.
We’re looking for a Head of Risk, Payments to shape how Veem protects customers and the business as our products and reach evolve. You’ll set the strategic direction for risk management, fraud prevention, and compliance, working closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Data. You’ll help turn complex requirements into thoughtful, scalable controls that support secure payments and a smooth customer experience.
This is a senior leadership role for someone who enjoys setting direction and working across teams to make that direction real.
What you’ll do
- Set and lead Veem’s risk, fraud-prevention, and compliance strategy across our payment products and global operations.
- Build and improve risk frameworks, policies, controls, and escalation processes that can scale with the business.
- Guide the company’s approach to AML/CFT, sanctions, fraud, customer and business verification, and data privacy risk.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to bring risk controls into product design, payment flows, and internal systems.
- Use data, automation, and compliance technology to strengthen risk detection and make controls more effective and scalable.
- Advise on risk across payment products and rails, including cards, ACH, wires, and real-time payments.
- Support growth into new markets by identifying relevant risks and helping teams understand jurisdiction-specific requirements.
- Evaluate, select, and manage third-party vendors, including KYC, transaction monitoring, fraud, and sanctions technology providers.
- Work with Operations, Legal, Product, Engineering, and Data to assess issues, manage escalations, and continuously improve controls.
- Communicate risk priorities, decisions, and trade-offs clearly to senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
What you bring
- 10+ years of experience in risk, compliance, or fraud within payments, fintech, or financial services.
- Leadership experience across risk and compliance programs for payment products, ideally in a global company
