About CAC
The Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC) exists to support transformation and inspire loving action in the world through the teaching of Christian contemplative wisdom and practices.
Internally, we're committed to creating a healthy workplace grounded in the same values we share with the world—one built on trust, curiosity, collaboration, and respect. Our mission guides everything we do, but it's our people who bring that mission to life each day.
About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a Web & Email Channel Specialist to help shape how CAC shows up across two of our most important digital channels: our website and email.
This role is both hands-on and strategic. You’ll build and optimize web pages and email experiences while also helping us think more intentionally about how these channels should work. From information architecture and responsive design to email strategy, SEO, user experience, and ongoing optimization, you’ll bring both the technical knowledge to execute and the strategic perspective to recommend a better path forward.
Rather than simply receiving requests and building what’s been asked for, we want this person to understand why something should be built a certain way, identify opportunities for improvement, and help establish best practices across CAC.
You’ll support teams across the organization with their web and email needs while taking ownership of the overall health, effectiveness, and evolution of these channels.
Who You Are
- You’re someone who enjoys being both hands-on and strategic. You can build the page or email yourself, but you’re also thinking about whether it’s structured the right way, serves the audience, and supports the broader strategy.
- You’re curious, collaborative, and comfortable bringing a point of view. You don’t just execute requests. You ask thoughtful questions, recommend better approaches when you see them, and look for opportunities to continuously improve the experience.
- You’re excited by the intersection of web, email, design, technology, and marketing, and you’re comfortable partnering with people across an organization to turn their goals into thoughtful digital experiences.
What You'll Do
- Own and optimize CAC’s web and email channels, bringing both hands-on execution and strategic recommendations.
- Build, maintain, and improve web pages in WordPress, applying best practices across UX, information architecture, responsive design, accessibility, and SEO.
- Build and optimize email communications in Campaign Monitor or similar platforms, with a focus on audience experience, design, and performance.
- Help shape CAC’s broader web and email strategy, identifying opportunities to improve how content is structured, delivered, and experienced.
- Use performance insights and industry best practices to recommend improvements across web and email.
- Partner with the Web Product Manager, Engagement, Marketing, Daily Meditations, and other internal teams to translate business needs into effective digital experiences.
- Establish and champion web and email best practices while helping stakeholders make thoughtful decisions about how and when these channels are used.
Qualifications
- 3-4+ years of relevant experience working across web, email, digital marketing, or a related discipline, with hands-on responsibility for building and optimizing digital experiences.
- Experience working directly in WordPress or a similar CMS.
- Experience with Campaign Monitor or a comparable email marketing platform.
- Strong understanding of web and email design best practices, including UX, information architecture, and responsive design.
- Familiarity with A/B testing and optimization across web pages, landing pages, or email campaigns.
- Experience applying strategic thinking to web and email, with the ability to recommend what should change and why.
- Working knowledge of SEO best practices and how site structure and content impact discoverability.
- Ability to balance design, technical requirements, audience needs, and organizational goals.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills and confidence partnering with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge of HTML and/or CSS, with the ability to make light updates or troubleshoot issues independently.
- Experience working in a mission-driven, nonprofit, or highly cross-functional organization.
Why You'll Love This Role
This is an opportunity to join a mission-driven organization where your work has meaningful impact You'll have the opportunity to:
- Have a voice. This isn’t just an execution role. You’ll have the opportunity to shape how CAC approaches web and email and bring forward your own ideas and recommendations.
- Own meaningful channels. Web and email are critical ways CAC connects with its audiences, and you’ll play an important role in how those experiences evolve.
- Think and build. You’ll stay close to the hands-on work while also stepping back to think about strategy, user experience, performance, and what we could be doing better.
- Help shape what comes next. With opportunities ahead to assess and improve CAC’s web and email performance, you’ll help identify what’s working, what needs to change, and where we should invest.
- Work across the organization. You’ll partner with teams throughout CAC, giving you visibility into different initiatives and the opportunity to make an impact across the organization.
- Have room to improve things. We’re looking for someone who notices opportunities, asks thoughtful questions, and is excited to make our digital experiences stronger over time.
