At Remote People, we're building the infrastructure to power borderless teams. By handling global payroll, benefits, taxes, and compliance, our technology enables businesses to hire anyone anywhere compliantly at the push of a button.
If you're interested in adding to our vision of enabling people to work in dream jobs, for every company, and from anywhere in the world, apply now!
We're committed to building a global, diverse team representing different and varied backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. We welcome applications from everyone, regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, civil or family status, age, or disability. Being part of Remote People means being part of a growing, international family.
Overview
We're seeking an Intermediate DevOps Engineer with solid infrastructure fundamentals, a platform-first mindset, and a drive to grow fast in a high-ownership environment.
What you'll be doing
You'll be part of our DevOps team, working closely with engineering squads across a remote-first organisation spread across Asia and Europe. Your primary focus will be on three things: keeping our platform reliable and scalable, making our observability stack actionable, and reducing friction in build and release processes so engineers can ship with confidence. You'll collaborate asynchronously and across time zones as a matter of course. AI tooling is a first-class part of how we work: you'll use it to accelerate automation and infrastructure work, while developing sharp judgment about validating its output.
Responsibilities
- Ensure availability, reliability and security of our SaaS platform across environments
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that make build, test and release processes fast, safe and self-service for engineering squads
- Leverage Infrastructure as Code to automate infrastructure provisioning and management
- Implement and improve observability tooling — metrics, logs and traces — so squads can understand system behaviour and act on it
- Monitor platform capacity and performance, forecasting resource needs proactively
- Investigate and resolve production incidents, contributing to root cause analysis and preventive follow-up
- Support engineering squads in integrating their services smoothly within the platform infrastructure
- Use AI tools to accelerate automation scripting and infrastructure work, with judgment to review and validate generated output
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years as a DevOps or SRE Engineer
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles: CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Configuration Management
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
- Experience with containerisation technologies — Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g. GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI)
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK)
- Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash or Go
- Ability to communicate effectively in a remote environment — clear written communication, reliable async collaboration
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with AI tools applied to infrastructure automation, and a willingness to build a disciplined workflow around them
- Experience with Terraform or comparable infrastructure automation tooling
- Experience working on a SaaS platform or public software product
- Understanding of security best practices in a DevOps environment
- Self-directed and curious: you take ownership of your tasks, seek feedback proactively, and drive your own growth without waiting to be pushed
