The Senior Java Backend Developer will be responsible for developing, evolving, and maintaining backend solutions using Java, ensuring high quality, scalability, security, and performance of applications. This role requires strong technical mastery, architectural thinking, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, in addition to the strategic use of generative AI tools to increase productivity, quality, and innovation.
The professional will also act in support of the construction and evolution of AI agents, collaborating on the development of services, integrations, and intelligent flows that use AI in a secure, observable, and business-aligned manner.
**Main daily activities:**
- Develop, maintain, and evolve backend services using Java;
- Help build, evolve, and integrate AI agents into existing backend systems;
- Collaborate on the development of services and APIs that support intelligent agents, ensuring scalability and reliability;
- Use generative AI tools, such as Cursor and/or Claude Opus, to:
- Accelerate code development;
- Support refactoring and continuous improvement;
- Assist in legacy code analysis and reverse engineering;
- Support the writing and review of tests and technical documentation;
- Contribute to the design, evolution, and maintenance of software architecture, including solutions involving AI;
- Implement development best practices, market standards, and principles such as Clean Code, SOLID, and Design Patterns;
- Ensure code quality through technical reviews, automated tests, and the use of support tools;
- Work collaboratively with Product, Architecture, DevOps, and other areas to align technical solutions with business objectives.
**Responsibilities:**
- Develop new features and maintain existing solutions;
- Perform reverse engineering of legacy systems, aiming at building new systems or modernizing platforms;
- Support initiatives for building AI agents, contributing with backend logic, integrations, and support services;
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize application performance;
- Actively participate in technical and strategic decisions related to software development;
- Ensure clear, updated, and easy-to-understand technical documentation;
- Act as a technical reference, mentoring junior and intermediate developers and promoting an environment of continuous learning;
- Evaluate and adopt new tools, including AI-based solutions, that bring real gains in efficiency and quality to the team.
**Qualifications**
**What we are looking for in you!**
- Solid experience in backend development with Java;
- Experience in developing REST and/or GraphQL APIs;
- Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases;
- Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines;
- Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes;
- Experience with Cloud Computing, especially AWS;
- Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban);
- Practical experience or familiarity with using AI tools to support development, such as Cursor, Claude Opus, Copilot, or similar;
- Interest or experience in collaborating on the construction of AI agents and intelligent solutions integrated into the backend.
**Preferred qualifications:**
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk, or Grafana;
- Relevant technical certifications (AWS, Kubernetes, Java, etc.);
- Experience in technological innovation and digital transformation projects;
- Interest or experience in exploring generative AI applied to the software development lifecycle, including:
- Code review;
- Refactoring;
- Testing;
- Documentation;
- Architecture;
- Support for building intelligent agents.
- Advanced English, with oral and written communication skills for:
- Participation in technical meetings;
- Reading and producing technical documentation;
- Interaction with stakeholders and international teams.
