Social Snowball by Dotdigital:

Social Snowball is the leading affiliate, influencer, and referral marketing platform for ecommerce brands, helping thousands of DTC companies turn customers and creators into a scalable sales channel. Built primarily for Shopify stores, the platform unifies customer referral programs, influencer partnerships, and TikTok Shop affiliates in one place, automating everything from affiliate onboarding and product seeding to payouts and fraud prevention through proprietary Safelinks technology. We help brands grow word-of-mouth revenue efficiently, without the manual overhead traditionally required to run affiliate programs at scale.

Contract Opportunity

This is a contract engagement facilitated through Rippling's Contractor of Record (COR) service. The successful individual will provide software engineering services to Social Snowball by Dotdigital as an independent contractor.

Services to be Provided

The contractor will provide services including:

• Designing, developing, testing, and maintaining application functionality, with a primary focus on backend development (90%+ backend)

• Delivering software features through the full development lifecycle, from requirements through deployment

• Translating business and technical requirements into clean code and reusable patterns that align with our Laravel/React architecture

• Building and maintaining third-party API integrations, including authentication, webhooks, rate limiting/backoff, and error handling

• Reviewing API documentation and developing technical solutions where requirements may be evolving or incomplete

• Providing light front-end development support within React where required

• Utilising AI-assisted development tools where appropriate while validating code quality and outputs

• Adhering to applicable security, confidentiality, and data protection requirements

• Collaborating with stakeholders and technical contributors to deliver agreed outcomes

• Contributing recommendations for improvements to processes, development practices, and code quality

Required Experience

The ideal contractor will demonstrate:

• 5+ years of experience designing and developing software solutions

• Strong expertise in PHP and Laravel, with React experience being advantageous

• Proven experience with API integration patterns, including authentication, webhooks, rate limiting/backoff, and error handling

• Ability to review technical documentation and translate high-level requirements into effective solutions

• Practical experience using AI tools to support software development

• Good understanding of security and data privacy best practices

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently

• Experience collaborating effectively in remote and distributed environments

• Accountability for delivering high-quality outcomes and continuously improving ways of working

• Ability to provide approximately 40-50% overlap with US Pacific Time working hours to support collaboration

Selection Process

The selection process is expected to include:

• Initial video interview

• Two technical interviews focused on relevant technical expertise and approach to delivering services
